Help on Writing Contact Information

Use the back button of your browser to return to the previous page.

Just click in the text area and begin typing the contact information. You can use the backspace key to delete and the arrow keys to move around in the text area. You can also use your mouse and click in the text area to position the cursor. When you enter more lines than the number of rows in the text area a scroll bar will appear on the right of the text area. You can move the scroll bar to select which lines to view in the text area.

The lines you enter will appear as they are except they will be centered and any occurrences of email addresses of the form user@host and URLs for http or ftp will automatically be turned into links. The lines you enter are not automatically wrapped, thus allowing you to have some formatting control. So for example if you entered the following contact information:

The information would appear like this in the ad:

See my home page at: http://www.iap.com/~me
Photos available from: ftp://ftp.iap.com/pub/users/my/photos/

Call me at (284) 234-3892 from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM
or
Send email at: me@my.host.domain

If you are familiar with HTML tags, you can use HTML tags in the contact information to format it just the way you want. To indicate that you want to use HTML tags just start your contact information with any HTML tag. This feature is available to both Free ads and Paid ads. If you use HTML tags, the system will no longer automatically center your text and convert URLs to links. You must do all formatting yourself. You can use the HTML tags to create links to your own Web pages or embed pictures in the contact information. If you would like to learn HTML or need a quick reference guide, just follow the links.

Whatever you enter in the text area will be included in the body of an HTML document. So do not use the <HTML>, <HEAD>, <TITLE> or <BODY> tags in the text area.

You can also chose to leave the contact information blank and just select the "Message box" option. This will allow you to receive responses to your ad anonymously. You will be able to read the responses received when you check the status of the ad. Choosing a message box does not mean that you have to leave the contact information blank. You can have a message box and give contact information.
